All this talk of the moon and then we have a harvest moon last night. I had no idea. But I took some pix, we’ll see if the staff can get them up soon (verrrry busy). Also, didn’t see it but apparently Jon Stewart visited with O’Reilly again last night. Still haven’t watched it even though it’s in that link. But anyway, Stewart said this:
“I agree with the sentiment that he ran as a visionary, and he’s led as a functionary.”
True enough, and reason for disappointment, but I really believe that the cowardice of the entire Democratic Party needs to be faulted. To have such control and do so little with it is more than a shame, it’s a dereliction of our votes in the 2008 election. You will hear now that the Democrats overestimated those results, but only from right-wingin’ nuts. The truth is that they greatly underestimated the desire for change that was so promised.
Listen, the Tea Party was going to happen no matter what. The mistake is to be afraid of it. A tiny news network and a small portion of Americans that would never have voted for Obama anyway are now controlling the message. It’s ridiculous. But it’s even more ridiculous to react to it in such a way.
Obama is less a visionary and more a functionary because he has gotten so little support from even his own side. And to wait for so long and expect some kind of bipartisanship, well, that was noble, but just a dream.
Meanwhile, the Republicans have issued their “Pledge to America”! I can only take Red State’s word for it right now (it’s a major right-wingin’ site) that it is total “dreck.” Here they come to save the day!
