So Long, Good Ol’ #10

For a long time I didn’t have cable and so I listened to an inordinate amount of Cubs radio broadcasts. I listened during the good and the bad–mostly the bad–and Ron Santo was, of course, a huge part of it. The last couple of seasons have been tough, with an unlikable and/or pretty bad team, and I certainly watched and listened less. But it was always nice to have Ron there shouting or sighing and making us all feel like we were in it together. Sinking with the ship.

And so now another has died without the Cubs wining the World Series and I’m starting to think that we all will. It just isn’t fair.
