Greg Kot and Jim DeRo review last night’s Decemberists show at Pritzker Pavilion pretty much identically, and I can’t disagree with much. Especially the part about how there should be more rock shows there. No, it wasn’t perfect, having the Grant Park Orchestra play with the band, but it’s a noble experiment anyway. How about just letting Radiohead come in and play? They would sound incredible in that space; most everyone does. But Radiohead, yes, that would be perfect.
We rode home afterward and the skies opened up halfway through, pouring down on us until we had to pull over. I couldn’t see anything. At least it was hot, though, and so we got home and threw our clothes in the dryer (all of them!) and I made an ice cream cone.
